Everything You Need To Know About Rollers And Gua Sha

Roller massage and Gua Sha have become an integral part of the beauty routine of many. Huge fans of this massage technique are already Demi Moore, Rachel Zoe, Vera Brezhneva and Olga Karput.  Co-founder of the QUARZ brand , Polina Sokhranova, helped us figure out why we need Gua Sha and a roller, how to choose “our” stone and to do the massage.

What is Gua Sha?

Gua Sha is the name of the massage technique that came to us from medieval China along with the name of the instrument itself. A gouache plate is traditionally carved from stone or from a horn.  The very idea that you are doing a massage with a semiprecious stone is already a pleasure. The essence of the procedure is to guide the faces of the plate along the lines of the face or neck, working through the tissues, improving microcirculation and stimulating the lymphatic system.

Why is it needed?

Our face needs care and massage just like the body. Gua Sha massage promotes active lymphatic drainage (this means there will be no swelling on the face) and sculpting the face – with regular procedures, you can highlight cheekbones, raise the corners of the mouth or eyebrows. The tool can relax muscle clamps that create asymmetries on the face and provoke the appearance of wrinkles.

What external changes can be expected after one massage, as well as after a course of massage with Gua Sha?

Gua Sha requires regularity, like any soft method of preserving youth, so the most visible results come after two to three weeks of using the tool. During the first use it will be possible to see how the face is lifted and blushed – this effect will stay with you for several hours, but you need to fix it with practice, healthy sleep, exercise and wholesome food.
