Causes of Dry Skin
Dry skin is another common skin condition that occurs due to seasonal changes or long-term effects of overusing products. It can create tightness, flakiness, and cracks, and may even produce more acne. Other risk factors can include, weather, swimming frequently in pools, working with soil/clay or cement, and having underlying health conditions, such as diabetes, eczema, and skin infections.
Different types of severely dry skin depend on environmental and health conditions. This includes contact dermatitis, which occurs due to allergic reactions or contact with harsh material, and seborrheic dermatitis which occurs when there is too much oil produced causing a dry rash. How to Treat Dry Skin
Treating dry skin requires hydrating the body and avoiding hot water on your face, as it can further decrease moisture in the skin. Another way to reduce itchiness is by applying compresses and creams to relieve the effects of dry skin. It is also important to use humidifiers, moisturize the skin 2 times a day, use gentle and non-toxic cleansers and wash the face after physical activity, and protect the face during the warm and cool climate. For example, applying hydrating and UV protective sunscreen in the summer and wearing scarfs or face warmers.
